JL Bennahmias signataire de la déclaration des parlementaires européens contre le retour forcé d'Afghans à Kaboul

Ce mardi 15 décembre

Alors que nous interpellions, ici même en séance plénière, le 24 novembre dernier, le Conseil et la Commission, sur les "opérations communes d'éloignement de migrants illégaux vers l'Afghanistan", force est de constater que la France et la Grande-Bretagne cherchent à poursuivre leurs opérations d'expulsion groupées.

Aujourd'hui, neuf afghans retenus au centre de Calais-Coquelles et deux retenus à Lille, se sont vus notifier leur renvoi en Afghanistan pour le mardi 15 décembre.

Alors qu'ils ont fui la guerre et sont venus chercher une protection en Europe, les autorités françaises s'apprêtent à renvoyer ces migrants en Afghanistan les exposant à de graves dangers sécuritaires et humanitaires.

Nous demandons l'arrêt de ces expulsions indignes qui violent le principe de non-refoulement tel que garanti par la CEDH et la Convention de Genève. Nous affirmons l'urgence de suspendre tout retour forcé vers l'Afghanistan, et de rendre effectif le droit à la protection en Europe.

Declaration of Members of the European Parliament

against the forced return of Afghans to Kaboul

on Tuesday, 15th December

Whereas we called out, here in plenary session on November 24th, to the Council and the Commission, on the "joint removals of irregular migrants to Afghanistan", one cannot but notice that France and Great-Britain are looking for persisting in joint expulsion operations.

Today, nine afghans held in the retention centre of Calais-Coquelles and two others held in Lille, have seen themselves notified of their expulsion to Afghanistan for Tuesday, 15th December.

Whereas they have fled the war and have sought protection in Europe, the French authorities are about to send those migrants back to Afghanistan, putting them at risk to serious safety and humanitarian dangers.

We call upon the cessation of these indignant expulsions which violate the principle of non-refoulement, as guaranteed by the ECHR and the Geneva Convention. We affirm the urgency to suspend any forced return to Afghanistan, and to make effective the right to protection in Europe.
